Board of Directors
The following is a list of our current board positions and a short description of their responsibilities. Please let us know if any certain area interests you or if you would like more information about that area.
President
The President is Chairperson of the Executive Committee and presides over all meetings and special functions. He/she has general supervision over all of the business of The Cheer Guild. He/she is an ex-officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee. This is a two-year term subject to re-election.
Vice President
In the absence of the President, the Vice President presides over all meetings and performs the necessary duties of President. He/she is a member of the Executive Committee and serves as Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee (currently not active). At all other times, he/she works in conjunction with the President to carry out the goals and objectives of The Cheer Guild. He/she is authorized to co-sign checks.
This is a two-year term subject to re-election. The Vice President is usually the current President's successor, therefore learns the job of President while fulfilling the term of Vice President.
Secretary
The Secretary monitors all staff taking the minutes and keeping records of all regularly scheduled meetings of the Cheer Guild. He/she records minutes of Executive Committee meetings and other social meetings as requested. He/she is Chairperson of the Nominating Committee and oversees volunteer and membership recruitment as outlined in the Strategic Plan. He/she is authorized to co-sign checks. He/she monitors staff keeping membership records and dues notification. This is a two-year term subject to re-election.
Treasurer
The Treasurer is responsible for checking the monthly financial reports prepared by the Administrative Assistant. He/she is authorized to co-sign checks. He/she correlates regular expenses of the Cheer Guild and the individual committee budgets. He/she is responsible for seeing that budgets are adhered to unless action is taken to authorize changes. He/she is Chairperson of the Financial Advisory Committee. He/she is a member of the Executive Committee. This is a two-year term subject to re-election.
Strategy and Process
The Strategy and Process Chair is responsible for process improvements within focus areas. Will work with other board members to develop key imperatives and to execute project plans. Will help the Board of Directors in staying on track with the strategic plan. Is a two-year term subject to re-election.
Chapters
The Chairpersons of the Chapters acknowledges donations from designated Chapters. He/she recruits new chapters. He/she is a member of the Board of Directors. This is a two-year term subject to re-election.
Fundraising Chairperson
The Fundraising Chairperson organizes and arranges fundraisers throughout the year to ensure that The Cheer Guild raises the amount of money budgeted. At all other times work in conjunction with the President to carry out the goals and objectives of The Cheer Guild. This is a two-year term subject to re-election.
Legislation Chairperson
The Legislation Chairperson follows and communicates legislative matters of interest to The Cheer Guild concerning healthcare and wellness in that state of Indiana. This is a two-year term subject to re-election.
Marketing
The Marketing Chairperson is responsible for the oversight of duties involving public relations, marketing, publications, website update and speakers bureau. This person works with all Board Members to spread public awareness of Guild activities, volunteer recruitment, and fundraisers. This is a two-year term subject to re-election.
Volunteer Liaison
The Volunteer Liaison is responsible for the retention of Cheer Guild members and volunteers. He/she works with Cheer Guild staff to contact members who have gone on inactive status. This Chairperson is responsible for mailing the dues notification on an annual basis. Is a two-year term subject to re-election.
Membership
The Membership Chairperson is responsible for the recruitment of new members. He/she coordinates recruitment efforts with the The Cheer Guild Director, Marketing Chairperson, and the Volunteer Services Department, as stated in the Strategic Plan. He/she sends letters of invitation to new volunteers to become members of The Cheer Guild. He/she works with the Administrative Assistant to contact members who have gone on inactive status. Is a two-year term subject to re-election.
I.U. Liaison
The I.U. Liaison is responsible for building relationships with I.U. Hospital staff and departments by fulfilling requests of items needed from the Toy Room for patient use. This Chairperson distributes items, plans and supervises activities for Christmas at I.U., logs distribution list and maintains a budget. He/she prepares layettes for Christmas and New Year birthdays. This is a two-year term subject to re-election.
Parliamentarian
The Parliamentarian is responsible for correct parliamentary procedures at the Board of Directors meetings and other special meetings of The Cheer Guild. He/she serves as Chairperson of the By-laws Committee. This is a two-year term subject to re-election.
Toy Room Chairperson
The Toy Room Chairperson is responsible for selecting, receiving, storing and distributing all toys, gifts or special items for inpatient and outpatient use at Riley Hospital for Children and Indiana University Hospital. This Chairperson may be responsible for other projects approved by the Board. He/she is a member of the Executive Committee and Co-Chair of the Toy Room Committee. He/she appoints own committee members. He/she is authorized to co-sign checks. This is a two-year term subject re-election.
