Donating Items

How Donated Items are Used

Donated items to The Cheer Guild are used within the Toy Room, where over 14,000 items are distributed each month to patients. These items are distributed as gifts for the patients to keep. These gifts help to aid in minimizing stress by offering some distraction to the current situation. Toys can help to pass the time or can be used to distract a child during a painful procedure, while blankets can add color to hospital room. The Cheer Guild has a wish list of items that are frequently requested by patients. If purchasing toys, we encourage donors to purchase from the wish list. If making handmade items, we encourage donors to call The Cheer Guild to request a pattern packet and ask for a list of the most current needs for handmade items.

Pattern Information

The Cheer Guild is in need of many different kinds of handmade items to be distributed to patients as gifts that they can keep. Prior to making handmade items, we encourage donors to call The Cheer Guild to ask for a list of the most current needs for these items, as this list continuously changes due to daily donations. The Cheer Guild has a pattern packet, which includes all the handmade items we accept (puppy pillows, pinafores, no-sew blankets, quilts, tote bags, etc). Due to different printing capabilities on individual printers, we ask that donors call The Cheer Guild to request a pattern packet to ensure that patterns do not get skewed in any way. You may request a pattern packet by calling (317) 944-8705 or by emailing Teresa Harper at tharper@clarian.org.
